Hi, I’m Tracey

vet information writer

I’m a medical writer with experience in healthcare writing and plain-language communication. I’m also currently working at the intersection of veterinary communication, canine behaviour, and welfare.

Across both roles, I’ve seen how easily important information is lost once people leave a consultation, particularly when emotions are high and time is limited. Clients can struggle to absorb what they’ve been told, especially when information is dense or text-heavy.

My work focuses on reshaping existing client-facing information so it’s easier to understand and use once clients are home. This includes reviewing language, structure, and visual hierarchy, with the aim of supporting clearer communication and reducing confusion after the consultation.

I’m particularly interested in how clarity affects outcomes, from adherence and follow-up queries to client confidence and trust.

Alongside my writing work, I have a background in canine behaviour and welfare, which informs my approach to communication. It has reinforced for me how closely health, behaviour, and understanding are linked, and how important it is that information is accessible at the point when people are most likely to need it.

Shaping Words reflects that focus: thoughtful language, clear structure, and communication designed to work in the real world.
